Here at DTS we are supporting today's national campaign to 'Get Britain Standing'!

This dynamic campaign aims to increase awareness and education of the dangers of sedentary working and prolonged sitting time. Regular small movements whilst at work is essential for us to:

  • Keep our bodies healthy
  • Prevent illness and relieve stress
  • Liberate us and make us more productive

The 'On Your Feet Britain' challenge dares you to convert 'sitting time' to 'standing time'. Follow some simple changes - its easier than you think:

  • Stand during phone calls
  • Stand and take a break from your computer every 30 minutes
  • Use the stairs
  • Have standing or walking meetings
  • Eat lunch away from your desk
  • Walk to your colleague's desk instead of phoning or emailing them
  • Stand at the back of the room during presentations.

Today (Friday 26th April) is your chance to get the ball rolling and encourage your employees to take a stand. Team up with your colleagues and see just how much 'sitting time' you can reduce. Some of the inventive ways you and your team can challenge yourself to get moving today include:

  • Run a lunchtime fitness club
  • Ban internal emails - make colleagues walk to each other to discuss work
  • Organise a lunchtime walk
  • Have an alert sounds at random times and ask employees to stand up when it does. A fun fine can be given to those caught napping
